MYK Laticrete Notch Trowel is a professional-grade stainless steel trowel specially designed for applying tile adhesive in a consistent ridged pattern before tile installation. Manufactured by MYK Laticrete, the trowel ensures uniform adhesive distribution, proper tile bedding, and improved bonding performance across floor and wall tiling applications. Available in three variants — Econ 4, Econ 7, and Econ 12 — each notch size is engineered for specific tile formats and adhesive bed requirements, helping installers achieve correct adhesive coverage for different tile sizes and installation conditions.

The Econ 4 variant features a 6x6mm square notch and is best suited for small-format tiles up to 300mm, including mosaic tiles, bathroom wall tiles, and kitchen backsplashes. The Econ 7 variant comes with a 7x6mm rectangular notch, making it ideal for medium-format tiles ranging from 300mm to 600mm commonly used on residential floors and walls. For large-format vitrified slabs, porcelain tiles, marble, and heavy stone installations above 600mm, the Econ 12 variant features a 12x12mm square notch that provides a thicker adhesive bed and improved tile support. The notch size directly controls the amount of adhesive deposited onto the substrate, and when tiles are pressed into place, the adhesive ridges collapse to create full and even coverage beneath the tile surface.

For proper use, first apply the adhesive onto the substrate using the flat side of the trowel to spread it evenly across the surface. Then hold the notched edge at approximately a 45-degree angle and comb through the adhesive to create uniform ridges. Once the adhesive ridges are formed, place the tile firmly over the surface and apply pressure so the ridges collapse evenly beneath the tile, ensuring strong adhesion and full coverage. After use, the trowel should be cleaned immediately with water before the adhesive hardens, as dried mortar can damage the notch edges and reduce application accuracy over time.
